When she first came to HSLS, Sarah (name changed for privacy) was facing a moment of deep uncertainty. After experiencing violence and losing stable housing, she sought a safe place to rebuild her life and regain a sense of security for herself and her children.
Through HSLS’s shelter and housing support programs, she connected with a case manager who helped her navigate the system, access essential resources, and participate in cultural and life skills programs that strengthened her confidence and sense of belonging.
Today, she has transitioned into stable housing and recently began part‑time studies to pursue her long‑term career goals. More importantly, she feels reconnected—to her culture, her community, and her future.
Her story is a reflection of the resilience, strength, and hope that define so many women in our community—and of what becomes possible when compassionate support meets determination.
